KCC GLASS Corporation ranked the first in three categories of KS-QEI
At the “2020 KS-QEI (Korean Standard Quality Excellence Index)” Award, KCC GLASS Corporation was ranked first in three categories: PVC Flooring, Low-emissivity Glass (Coated Glass), and Decoration Film. Organized by KSA (Korean Standards Association) and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the National Institute of Technology and Standards, and the Korean Society for Quality Management, the KS-QEI is a composite indicator that researches and announces the excellence in quality and level of satisfaction rated by users and experts. Both KCC and KCC GLASS Corporation were rated high by consumers and experts in terms of quality which includes user experience and emotional appeal. The user experience is evaluated on 6 categories including product performance, reliability, durability, usability, safety, and accessibility, and the emotional appeal assesses the image of the product, consumers’ perception, and novelty which is rated based on how unique and attractive the product is. KCC GLASS Corporation was ranked first for the eleventh and the fourth consecutive year in the PVC flooring and low-emissivity glass category respectively. In the decoration film category, “KCC GLASS Corporation Vicenti” was ranked first for the first time. KCC GLASS Corporation is the first company in decoration film industry to win the category. KCC GLASS Corporation Sup brand offers eco-friendly home flooring that is safe and has excellent quality. KCC GLASS Corporation launched home flooring materials for homes with kids and pets, Sup Dodam 3.2 / 2.7. The name, “Dodam”, came from the word “Dodam Dodam”, which means that children play well and grow up healthy. It was named to represent that the product is kid/pet-friendly as it is safe from any hazardous substances and equipped with anti-slip function and comfortable walking surface. It has been certified with various eco-friendly product marks including Eco-Label, HB Mark, and Atopy Safety Mark. It is the first PVC flooring to acquire “Pet Product Safety Certification” which is a quality certification system that recognizes excellence for pet-friendly products. To become certified, the product must meet the designated safety standards and undergo tests conducted by the Korean Kennel Club and the KOTITI Testing & Researching Institute for safety. Sup Dodam offers a safer and more comfortable walking experience as it absorbs the shocks sent to the feet and joints when jumping or landing on the surface thanks to its non-slip surface coating and high-elastic cushioning layer. It is also easy to clean and more sanitary. Being PVC sheet flooring, there are fewer seams and gaps which make it easy to clean up after pet accidents. There are two types of thicknesses, 2.7mm and 3.2mm, and the design patterns include 7 and 11 types for 2.7mm and 3.2mm respectively to reflect the latest trend and meet the consumers’ preferences.
2021-03-30KCC GLASS Corporation and Korea Autoglass Corp. signed a merger agreement
On the 9th, KCC GLASS Corporation and Korea Autoglass Corp. held a board meeting to pass the resolution for merger and signed a merger agreement. The merger is expected to be completed by December 1 after a general meeting of shareholders to be held for final approval on October 29. KCC GLASS Corporation and Korea Autoglass Corp. said, “By establishing a single unified system from the production of raw materials to distribution under a single roof, the merger will bolster efficiency and strengthen our overall competitiveness while focusing on technological innovation.” KCC GLASS Corporation in particular, plans to create synergy effects through the merger by ensuring stable supply and demand of glass and developing high-performance glasses including head-up display (HUD) glass, lightweight laminated glass, solar cell roof, and heating glass. Established as a spin-off in January, KCC GLASS Corporation focuses on commercial materials, glass and interiors as its main business. It has 50% of the domestic market share in float glass while strengthening its dominant position in the interior market, which shows continuous growth, through its own brand, HomeCC. Meanwhile, Korea Autoglass Corp. manufactures concrete piles and safety glass for automotive. The automotive safety glass division, which accounts for about 90% of the company’s total sales, is a major vendor to domestic automakers such as Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, and GM, while maintaining 70% of market share through exports.

On the 10th, KCC GLASS Corporation won the IR52 Jang Young-sil Award for its bus flooring material with excellent safety, “SENSTONE,” at the IR52 Jang Young-sil Award Ceremony held at novel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, South Korea. The IR52 Jang Young-sil Award is given to South Korean companies and workers working in the area of technology development who have shown leadership in industrial technology innovation by developing and commercializing outstanding new technologies and products. SENSTONE is a functional flooring material for buses designed to facilitate the safe use of buses for bus passengers. KCC put the focus on safety in the development of SENSTONE so that in the event of a fire on a bus or a safety accident where passengers fall while on a bus boarded by many other passengers, the accident does not develop into a bigger accident. The results of product performance testing of SENSTONE have shown that the product is excellent in regards to all safety-related items, including non-slip properties, flame retardancy, emissions, of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) and exhaust gas emissions compared to products from KCC’s global competitors. As for SENSTONE’s non-slip properties in particular, KCC secured the product’s walking safety for passengers by applying a special ultraviolet(UV) coating process technology to the surface of the flooring material, which has endowed the product with a high level of surface friction(nonslipness). In addition, by obtaining Europe’s rigorous fire safety certification “ECE” for SENSTONE, KCC also proved the excellence of its flame propagation suppression compounding technology, and having also applied to the product and eco-friendly raw material mixing technology that reduces emissions of VOCs, KCC expects the product to help improve the indoor air quality of buses as well as reduce the weight of buses and improve their fuel efficiency. 2021-03-30KCC donates 500 million won to help out with restoring heavy rain damage
KCC has donated 500 million won for to help rapidly restore damage and to support victims in the heavy rain-stricken areas. A total of 500 million won was raised, 300 million from KCC and 100 million from KCC GLASS Corporation and 100 million from KCC E&C, and delivered to the Korea Disaster Relief Association on the 13th. The donation was made in an effort to help restore damage in the afflicted areas and to console and help victims who have lost their homes due to the unprecedented long term rainy seasons following the COVID-19 pandemic. The donated fund will be used preferentially to provide relief goods and restore the flood-affected areas for victims. KCC has also engaged in order efforts to help people overcome major disasters, such as forest fires, typhoons, and epidemics whenever they occurred. Last March, the company donated 1 billion won to aid with preventing the spread of COVID-19 and to support the victims. It also donated construction materials needed to restore damage at the time of forest fires in Gangwon and earthquakes in Pohang last year.
